Fall Concert – Tuesday, October 2nd at 6:30pm, MHS Auditorium

Our first concert of the year is THIS TUESDAY! We are so excited to show what we have learned in just 6 short weeks. Each orchestra has done an outstanding job thus far; it is going to be a fantastic concert.

Students must be in uniform:
Ladies: black dress & black, closed-toe shoes
Gentlemen: Tux jacket, tux pants, cummerbund, bow tie, white wing-tip tux shirt (you must purchase), solid black dress shoes with black socks

All students are required to stay for the entire concert to receive full credit. There will be a sign out sheet in their call room once the final selection is performed. The concert will end between 8:30pm & 9pm.

All students will need their uniform in class on Thursday & Friday October 11th & 12th. Terry Ip will be here to take orchestra group photos & individual photos. Packages are available for purchase. After photos are taken and edited, you will receive a Charms email with a link to view & purchase photos.

Snap!Raise Fundraiser Kickoff – October 17th
Snap!Raise is an accredited fundraiser that utilizes crowd-funding strategies to fundraise. Last year, the Martin Orchestras raised over $25,000 in just 4 weeks through SnapRaise!

We will begin asking students to gather email addresses to prepare for our SnapRaise campaign. You will receive a Charms email with specific instructions and information prior to our kickoff date. In short: students upload email addresses to their SnapRaise profile. A total of four emails are sent to each email address (1 each week for 4 weeks), explaining why the orchestra is fundraising and how to donate. At the conclusion of the 4 weeks & 4 emails, the email addresses are deleted and no further emails are sent.

This was a huge success for us last year so we are excited to launch another campaign. Students are highly encouraged, but not required to participate. If your family or friends do not feel comfortable donating through SnapRaise, a donation can be sent in the form of cash or check to school with your child. Please make checks payable to Martin Orchestra Booster Club.

Region Auditions – Saturday, October 20th at YJH
Students participating in region auditions will try out at Young Junior High on Saturday, October 20th. Students will receive specific procedural information during class. This is not a required activity – if you haven’t heard of it, your child is probably not participating.

Spring Trip to Disney World - contract & deposit due Friday, October 5th
All sophomores, juniors & seniors are eligible to travel to Disney World March 13-17. Information & contracts were sent home the week of September 17th.

Trip contracts and a deposit of $300 is due on Friday, October 5th. This will secure a spot for your child.

We will need parent chaperones to travel with us. Parent chaperone applications are also due Friday, October 5th. Please make no payment at this time. Parent chaperones are selected on a first-come, first served & seniority basis. Parents will be notified by Friday, October 12th of eligibility. If you are interested in traveling with the orchestra, but have not received information from your child, please email me at jovalle@aisd.net and I will make sure you receive an application.

We are extremely lucky to have a supportive Booster Club that has committed to awarding trip scholarships to students in need. Scholarship applications are also due on Friday, October 5th. This application is available in class.
